Geoff: Hi, My name is Geoff, I am from Los Angeles and I have a question about hard contact lenses, if they will correct the stigmatism I have in my right eye and if there are any long-term effects?Dr. Mary Migneco: Geoff, as far as stigmatism, many people do have a stigmatism. It can be due to the front surface of the eye or inside the eye. If your stigmatism is due to the curvature of the front surface of the eye, a hard lens or gas permeable lens can certainly correct for that. As far as long-term harmful side effects, there would be none as long as it's a gas permeable material, you take care of them as instructed and don't wear them any longer than instructed.
